I am sure I'm not the only person to unknowingly fall victim to a scam (usually to a Facebook purchase months after the event). Big Tech has the profits and infrastructure to place more stringent checks to ensure the online safety of customers from scams.

ARE THERE ANY TRULY INDEPENDENT VETERINARY PRACTICES IN MORAY?

I have been a loyal customer for all my rescue animals with my current vet for almost 15 yrs and had ben happy until the trend for the independents to join finance consortia.

Suddenly my vet bills have rocketed sky high.

I booked one of my rescues in for a routine dental expecting the bill to be in the region of £200 at the most. When I dropped him off this morning I found the bill once all the obligatory additions were added was likely to be in the region of four times my previous invoices for similar work carried out.

I was horrified. I did not ask for jewel-encrusted canines for the cat; all I wanted was a simple extraction of the tooth/teeth causing him painful eating.

I fund all veterinary costs of the many animals that are "dumped" with me and fund their medical care from the profits of the cattery and have done since 2006.

I feel strongly there should be an Ombudsman to regulate these outrageous pricing systems.

What is wrong with people?

As you all know, in conjunction with running the cattery, I try to give something back and will trap, neuter, work on socialisation skills and rehome the 'graduates' to happy Forever Homes. This week I was asked to help catch a young cat who was hanging around Lidl carpark. I brought a cat trap and left it in the carpark bushes where the young cat was spotted. The trap was not set to give the young cat confidence it was safe to enter, until I was sure it was still returning for the turkey mince meal. One of the employees in Lidl was keeping an eye on the trap during the day.

The night before last the trap was stolen!

I despair of the honesty of some people. The trap cost me £75 three years ago. Previously I have loaned two good cat traps to assist people who have unfortunately not returned them or loaned them to others. I have now had to purchase another quickly (over £100 plus VAT plus £30 carriage to the cattery because it is a Highlands and Islands surcharge (don't get me started on THAT one****). Consequently should anyone want to borrow a cat trap in future I will have to charge a deposit.

And in the mean time, the young cat is getting more and more feral and in a worse case scenario could be killed trying to cross the road looking for food.
