Navi is TaxNav’s friendly, furry “tax navigator”—created to bring warmth and clarity to an area many people find overwhelming. 💚
We’ve been working with TaxNav since last year to shape and launch their SaaS technology proposition, covering everything from naming and brand identity through to UI and UX. It’s been an exciting journey bringing the product to life.
With the government’s Making Tax Digital initiative coming into effect in April 2026, our latest challenge was to create a character to humanise the experience and remove the fear often associated with tax returns.
After exploring plenty of ideas (and more than a few furry contenders), Navi came out on top—and he’s here to prove that tax doesn’t have to be scary.
Navi—and the TaxNav platform—are proof that even complex, regulated services can feel simple, engaging, and even enjoyable.
They’re also a great example of how differentiation can be fun.

Creative energy was high at our latest Learning Lunch ✂️
Lucy took us through the power of illustration — from how it helps communicate ideas (especially when words get in the way), to exploring different styles and techniques.
Lucy also shared her personal creative process, from finding inspiration in everyday moments to experimenting with textures and mixed media to bring ideas to life. Her vibrant, collage-led style really stood out as a great example of how materials and approach can shape storytelling.
The session finished with a hands-on challenge, where we were tasked with creating our own characters from pritt stick and a stack of magazines. A joyful ‘brain break’ and a reminder that sometimes the simplest tools spark big ideas.
