Grass Seed Season is here!

Grass seeds are one of the most common summer time emergencies that we see. They can cause big problems. The seeds can easily become lodged in your dog's ears, causing sudden pain, persistent head shaking, scratching, and, if left untreated, painful infections or damage to the ear canal and the ear drum.

The best way to protect your dog is to avoid long , dry grass where possible, to check your dog's ears after every walk and to keep the hair around the ears trimmed, especially in long-haired breeds.

If your dog suddenly starts shaking their head, tilting it, or seems uncomfortable after a walk, don't delay- contact your veterinary practice. Grass seed rarely come out on their own and are best removed as soon as possible

Our OOH team is here if your dog develops a painful ear overnight or when your usual daytime vet is closed.

Early treatment can prevent more serious problems and keep your pet comfortable.
