When not busy renovating the cottage, RMS somehow managed to squeeze in some exciting projects for customers.
Project 2 - transforming a dated and gloomy bathroom which had seafood (that is not a typo 🦞) tiles, a dark slate floor and blue walls. The customer wanted to give the bathroom the character that the stunning Edwardian property deserved. The customer also wanted to replace the tired electric shower for a mixer shower. The white metro tiles with silver grey grout, white walls and hand painted floor tiles, have brought an air of lightness and style to this family bathroom.

Roll back to 12 months ago. The big dig started today and just over 2 weeks later 600 tonnes of soil had been removed from site. It wouldn’t be until September that the final set of footings would be dug out which resulted in another 150 tonnes being removed.

The Bridge Cottage story:
Back on 9 Nov 19 we became the new owners of Bridge Cottage, It wasn’t until 9 Jan 20 that work commenced on what would be the biggest project I/RMS have ever undertaken. With everything that 2020 has thrown at us, Weather, Virus, Lockdown, material shortages and delayed deliveries, 22 Dec 20 saw Bridge Cottage turn from being a renovation project to becoming our new home. The design brief that both myself and .bridgecottages gave Mark and Doug at have come to fruition even though there are a few things to be finished off, like sorting out a back door for starters but the main areas of the cottage are complete and habitable. Obviously the start to 2021 isn’t ideal but hopefully it will allow finishing off the project and being able to enjoy the cottage.

The site has been busy busy throughout November and the beginning of December. So what has happened I hear you ask? Well, the snug is complete I can’t wait to take a pew In here with a beer or two. The herringbone parquet flooring from will go through the lounge and into the kitchen. The bare metal column radiator from set the tone in this relaxing room.
The roof has been completed on the side extension using a natural slate tile along with galvanised guttering. We have also knocked through from the lounge into the side extension so all the dirty muddy work on the cottage is now complete. This work has racked up another 3 tons of soil to dispose of. The pros and cons of a cob cottage I suppose.
I will finish off the update with a little bit of luxury, the en-suite bathroom is now ready for use. 🚿 👍🏻👍🏻
