The amber Heat Health Alert for the South West remains in place until 9pm on Sunday 12 July.

While warm weather can be enjoyable, high temperatures can be dangerous for older people, young children and those living with long-term health conditions.

As we head into the weekend, please check in on any vulnerable relatives, friends, neighbours or colleagues. A quick call or visit could make a real difference.

⚽ Watching the World Cup this weekend? If you're drinking, remember that alcohol can increase the risk of dehydration in hot weather, so keep the water flowing too.

Remember to:

💧 Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated
🏠 Keep cool indoors where possible
🧴 Use SPF 30+ sunscreen and seek shade between 11am and 3pm
🕶️ Wear a hat, sunglasses and suitable clothing
👶 Take extra care to protect children and babies from the sun
