Parent Carer Feedback – Torbay SEND Services

If the SEND Improvement Board could change ONE thing in the next six months, what should it be?

This week we will be taking parent carer feedback to the Torbay SEND Local Area Improvement Board.

Thank you to everyone who has already shared their experiences. We've heard examples of excellent practice across education, health and social care, alongside concerns about communication, EHCP processes, school transport, transitions, access to support and accountability.

Some of the strongest messages include:
💙 The importance of professionals taking time to listen and understand children and families.
💙 The difference that good relationships and person-centred support make.
💙 The need for more timely communication and clearer information.
💙 The need to balance attendance expectations with children's wellbeing and mental health.
💙 Better support for families navigating SEND systems.

Before Wednesday's meeting we'd like to sense-check our findings.
