EXEmplar Dogs

We’re back from our short sniffy walk this morning and I would say it’s already starting to get too warm… If you haven’t walked to your dog yet please consider missing the walk today and doing some sniffing activities at home with them instead. Sniffing tires them out three times more than a walk so a 20 minutes sniffing session is the equivalent of a one hour walk.

This doesn’t have to be Scent Training Sniffer Dog style, like the courses I run, but can just be done with treats, an easy one is scattering their kibble in the garden for them to search and forage and find.

Why is my dog on lead in a field?

Is it:

A) because she’s injured
B) because she’s finding recall tricky at the moment
C) because being on lead (even if they could be off lead) encourages a slower walk and reduces arousal levels for Dogs who struggle with with over arousal.
D) because it’s too warm to be running full speed

All of the above of valid reasons, but what is your guess?
