Why not step inside the beautiful Exeter Custom House on Exeter's historic Quayside? With its thick stone walls, fascinating history and peaceful atmosphere, it's the perfect place to take a break from the sunshine.

While you're here, why not join one of our FREE guided tours, running every Sunday throughout July and August?

Our fantastic volunteer guide, Ian, will bring this remarkable 17th-century building to life with stories of Exeter's maritime past, the merchants and sailors who passed through its doors, and the important role the Custom House played in the city's history. You'll never look at the Quayside in quite the same way again!

🕑 Drop in between 2pm and 4pm – there's no need to book. Simply pop into reception and join the next tour.

🎟️ Tours are completely FREE, although donations are always appreciated and help support the ongoing work of the Exeter Custom House.

Recently, we said a very fond farewell to our wonderful Cultural Partners at Art Work Exeter as they brought their three-year residency at Exeter Custom House to a close.

What an incredible three years it's been! They filled the quayside with creativity, colour, curiosity and plenty of surprises, proving that art and culture can be welcoming, accessible and, above all, enormous fun.

From their wonderfully bonkers reimagining of The Onedin Line, to the pop-up River Radio station, the joyful Dumpling Day, the thought-provoking Pile Up! Worlds of Stuff exhibition, and so many other unforgettable moments, they taught us all to expect the unexpected.

And what a way to finish! The Considerate Society brought together a fantastic weekend of creative conversation, inspiring ideas and cultural celebration, while somehow also finding time to organise a brilliant Art Car Boot Sale.

Thank you to everyone at Art Work Exeter for the imagination, laughter, collaboration and community spirit you've brought to the Custom House. It's been an absolute pleasure to have you as part of the quayside, and while we'll miss having you here, we're certain this isn't goodbye.

Wow! We have had a wonderful afternoon at Jazz On The Quay in Exeter. Thank you to everyone who came and enjoyed the afternoon with us and a big shout out to all the dancers who were unstoppable even in the heat!
