Made by Land & Sea
Daniel Freytag

Made by Sea shifts focus to coastal and industrial landscapes — harbours, docklands and shorelines shaped by trade, labour and movement over time.

Presented at Custom Lane in Leith, itself part of the historic port, the exhibition brings land and sea together — connecting remote rural histories with the industrial shoreline through the traces people leave behind.

Preview Evening: May 7th, 6–9pm
Custom Lane, Leith

We’re pleased to present Made by Land & Sea, a new exhibition by Daniel Freytag.

Freytag’s work explores the landscape from above, tracing the marks left by movement over time. Central to his process is running — moving through the land at a human pace, he maps paths and patterns that shape how he understands the world.

Resident Spotlight ✨

Chantelle Gomez is a photographer and multidisciplinary artist drawn to the quiet beauty of the everyday.

Her work embraces uncertainty, allowing process and intuition to shape each image—from instinct to outcome. By letting go of control, she creates space for imperfection, accident, and vulnerability—resulting in work that feels raw, honest, and deeply human.

Born in London, having lived across three continents, she now calls Scotland home, and we are so happy to have her at Custom Lane

We are so excited to welcome Agnes Jones to Custom Lane for her exhibition In Situ

is a sculptor based in Edinburgh who draws in steel to make linear pieces full of character. Translating pen drawings into steel, her work changes this very solid material into something that looks like it has been sketched in the air.

This exhibition explores drawing people and objects in situ. People in their own spaces, on their sofas, relaxing, drinking tea or coffee in dialogue with the space itself.

In Situ runs from April 3rd to 11th with an evening viewing on April 2nd

A rare opportunity at Custom Lane

A small studio space has become available in our building — ideal for a small team of around 4 people. Studios of this size don’t come up very often, so it’s a great chance to join our creative community on Leith’s waterfront.
