Did you know?

The iconic clock on Edinburgh’s Balmoral Hotel is set 3 minutes fast and it’s been that way since 1902!

Originally known as the North British Station Hotel, the idea was simple: give travelers a little nudge so they wouldn’t miss their trains at nearby Waverley Station.

For over a century, this clever time trick has helped keep people on schedule, with the clock tower visible across much of the city.

But there’s one special exception ....On Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve), the clock is set to the correct time so everyone can count down to midnight together.

A small detail with a big history, proof that even time itself can have a Scottish twist.
