Paradigm Shift Open Studio

Hello,
Finally starting to settle into the new studio and get through all of my boxes! We are already running classes and seeing new faces in the studio. We have a few courses with availability coming up in the studio to check out!

6 Week beginner sewing - All rounder course - Starts Friday, 12th of June
3 Week beginner sewing - Make a pair of summer shorts with a pocket.
Monthly Mending - 27th June 3-6pm
Introduction to machine knitting - Make a neckerchief/ Headscarf.

New beginner sewing course. For anyone looking for a shorter beginner sewing course where you get the experince of sewing and making a garment for yourself.

Skills - Fabrics, cutting, Sewing, finishing seams, pockets, waistband, hems

Runs for 3 weeks starting Wednesday 24th June.

The exciting time has come that the studio is growing! I am looking for someone to come and join as a tutor twice a week, there is a possibility that this could progress into a more as the company grows.

Applicants should have a good level of sewing and garment-making experience. Ideally, a fashion design degree.

Improvers Courses for sewing and Pattern Drafting

On our improvers courses there is a mix of new sewing skills and an introduction to pattern drafting. This can either be done on a garment focussed course like our trousers course or a general course.

These courses start in June and will be held at our new venue 278 Leith Walk!

Hello! If you have been round the studio the past couple of weeks this won't come as a suprise but I am moving! After months of searching I now have confirmed a new premise! I won't be going too far as the new studio is on Leith walk!

As much as my studio and shop at The shore is lovely to work in, it wasn't giving the business the visibility that I was hoping for! So I'm excited for this new chapter. I have started a summer timetable for new courses any bookings are really helpful while we transition between venue and refurb our new studio!

Next weekend we have a couple of short courses on in the studio!

Saturday -Monthly Mending - Learn to darn, patch and repair your clothing!

Sunday - Introduction to Machine knitting - Make a pair of socks - 11-6 pm

Knitting Machine Long Course - Suitable for Beginner
Textile technique + Large Project weekend
Starting Sunday 10-2 15/03

This course is designed to take you through the differnt textile functions on a knitting machine and the result they can produce you can then use these textile sample to design and make a large project, potentially a vest but I'm open to other ideas!

Week 1-4 - Textile Technqiues
Lace, Colourwork, fairisle, partial knitting, cables, tucking, ribbing.

Week 5
Design pattern for project + an additional sampling

Week 6 - Sat & Sunday in the studio to make your final project!

Make a quilted vest with Anne - 4-week course

Extra date for machine knitting a neckerchief. All February dates have sold out for machine knitting a neckerchief so I am squeezing in an extra date at the end of January.

This is a beginner's course where you will be shown the basics and make a sample using the techniques before making your neckerchief. Materials provided and a range of colours of wool available.

The next available date after this is 21st March
