Appreciation post for my client Katherine who came 1st out of 9 in her first ever strongman comp last weekend!
3 event wins in deadlift, sandbags, and farmers, a 2nd place in dumbbell overhead, and a slight disaster in holds 😂 nae bother, picked herself up and smashed the next event.
How often can I say I’m proud of my clients? I AM SO PROUD. Katherine is awesome and joins a cool lineage of people who have started out not being able to lunge and have gotten themselves to a point where they are competitive athletes 😭 😭 😭 I’m so grateful to be part of this journey!!!
Ps lunging is hard

It’s been a couple years since I competed with Scottish Powerlifting, but I have been MISSING it. As great to make a wee return today by dropping into Paisley Barbell’s comp. Had such a good time and saw some great lifting! Really happy with my performance today; went conservative with attempts due to a) currently dealing with a messed up shoulder and b) trying to remember the technical side of all the lifts. Had some left in the tank for all the lifts which is what I wanted in this comp so v happy.

I looked through my camera roll to find a good cross section of what my clients get up to training with me, but it’s impossible to fit all the fun stuff in so I guess I’ll write about it as well!
I (Rebecca) coach people online and in the gym (1:1 PT, small group PT, and lifting club) and have been doing so for almost a decade. I’m situated at Energy Gym in Edinburgh, which is a friendly gym with a clientele as varied as mine. We have loads of cool kit, lots of space, and a cafe/bar upstairs.
I have coached people who compete in high level strongman, powerlifting, and roller derby, as well as people who come to the gym to get a bit fitter and healthier for day to day life. Folk who want to compete, and folk who want to have social connection and be fit enough to run around with their kids. All body types and goals are cool with me. It’s all valid and it’s my job to make sure everyone feels valued and supported.
My clients are part of a community regardless of whether they come to lifting club (very social) or 1:1 PT - we have a book group, and do group days and nights out a couple times a year. I want everyone to feel welcome and at home in the gym, but here’s the thing: none of this is compulsory! If you want to get a programme from me with a weekly check in and not talk to anyone, that’s 💯 fine. If you want to make pals, that’s awesome too. EVERYONE is supported.
I have competed internationally in strongman, as well as holding national records in IPF powerlifting. I’ve got a Strength and Conditioning qualification, pre/post natal and PT certs, and a degree in Sport and Fitness. I’m also q***r, neurodivergent and have loads of experience coaching a huge range of people.
Would you like to be coached by me online or in person? Would you like to have a chat about what you’d like to achieve? Send me a message!
Oh and by the way, you don’t have to get to a certain level of fitness to start - that’s my job ;)

Had a brilliant day in Peterhead on Saturday Scottish Week Games strongman comp.
Events: Sandbag steeple chase, farmers run, bag throws, Conan’s wheel, van/truck pull.
As always I am extremely proud of my clients giving their all and showing excellent sportsmanship 🥹 bonus to come back to Edinburgh with a couple of trophies!!
All the events were really fun to watch and the day was super well run - thank you all who organised and helped out! ❤️
Highlights of the day have to be the Conan’s wheel and van/truck pull for all three - brand new events for all and they all smaaaashed it.
Well done (especially for pulling a truck almost 10 meters), (all round solid performance and massive improvements on speed) and Zoe (beasting her first ever comp and getting a sweet 2nd place overall) ❤️.
Thanks also for support and bringing the goodest boy ❤️

Extremely proud to wish good luck to three of my clients off to play in the Roller Derby World Cup in Austria this week!
Stellar is on Team Latvia, and Tenacious C and Pope are on Team Scotland. I’m so honoured to have played a small part in all of their journeys to this incredible level, and can’t wait to see them in action when I figure out how the live stream works.
