First Saturday—votive Mass of the Immaculate Heart of Mary—we need Our Lady in order to truly comprehend Our Lord.

At our post-social talk, Professor Erik Tonning spoke on Fr G. M. Hopkins SJ’s Wreck of the Deutschland and explained how the poem not only re-interpreted the death of the five Franciscan nuns in a shipwreck on 7th Dec 1875 but also expressed Hopkins’s own conversion and journey of faith—Hopkins, coming from an Anglican background, was received into the Church by St John Henry Newman but suffered a lot as a result of his conversion, just like Newman did.
As Professor Tonning explains through Hopkins’s poem, our hope, which should be a consequence of our faith, should not be a mere earthly optimism, but should be grounded in Christ’s promise of eternal life. The “tall nun” who was calling “O Christ, Christ, come quickly” was not calling for God’s rescue but was indeed yearning for the reunion with Christ, her spouse.

The Project Truth Edinburgh Pod is officially up and running! The team of 8 shared the pro-life message with the people of Edinburgh earlier today - 5 of the team for the very first time! Project Truth is making a real difference, one conversation at a time 💙

12 new deacons were ordained for the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP) in the impressive Baroque nave of the Ottobeuren Abbey Basilica yesterday (2nd May).

Among them 1 Brit from FSSP Warrington!

We concluded our Juventutem meeting today with an outdoor rosary in front of a statue of Our Lady in honour of May the month of Our Lady.

Our next meetings will be on 6th June (First Saturday again) and 15th August (Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady!!). Mark the dates in your diary!

No meetings in July due to Juventutem Summer Weekend 2026 in Ampleforth Abbey in York!

Usual format: Holy Hour from 11am, Mass at 12pm, followed by pizza lunch and social, concluding with group rosary at Our Lady's statue outside St Andrew's Catholic Church (weather permitting) in honour of May, the month of Our Lady!
