We were delighted to have the opportunity to showcase RESPIRE at the Usher Building Official Opening yesterday, 26 June 2025.

A myriad of guests visited the RESPIRE display, including Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General, pictured here with RESPIRE Co-Director Harry Campbell and Research Manager, Dominique Balharry.

It was great to see other RESPIRE partners attending and presenting at the showcase, including Liz Grant, Hilary Pinnock, Syed Ahmar Shah, Ruth McQuillan, Harish Nair, Linda Bauld, David Weller, Chris Weir and Sir Aziz Sheikh.

Congratulations to Dr Hana Mahmood, our Co-Lead for Capacity-building, Education and Training, who has been shortlisted for the 2025 Being Edinburgh Alumni Award!

Hana is one of four finalists selected from a vast pool of alumni from all areas of The University of Edinburgh, and has been recognised for developing and implementing novel interventions to reduce childhood pneumonia.

Hana's RESPIRE PhD Studentship focused on mobile health (mHealth) to educate care providers on pneumonia and COVID-19 prevention in Pakistan.
