It’s really sad to see so many small businesses having to be so raw about how things are just now. 🥺
I hope someone can snap up the bar and make a real go of a small community bar.

Sale Update

Most of you will have by now noticed the ‘For Sale by Auction’ sign outside the pub. The plan is to auction the building around the end of July. Whoever buys it can then run it as a pub or exercise the permission we’ve had granted by the National Park to convert it into a house

We certainly didn’t think that almost two years after we first put it on the market in September 2024 that we’d still be running the pub albeit only the bar and only at weekends

While that has worked well enough for the past 18months we’ve gradually seen the takings decline from over £1,000 per weekend at the start to less than £500 over the past few months.
The biggest drag on takings are Saturdays. For the 12 years we’ve had the pub Saturdays were always our lowest takings per hour day but it’s now got to the stage where it’s costing us money to open on a Saturday.
For example last Saturday we had two customers and took £24.30

So for the next two months we’ll only be open and Fridays and Sundays which both remain busy.

The team have agreed that it’s now time to finally call time and so our last day of trading will be the 30th August, the Sunday after Cowal Games
