What is your garden looking at? 🌿👀

When you look out into your garden, your eyes naturally look for a place to rest. If there isn't a clear "focal point," a garden can feel chaotic or flat.

You don't need a sprawling estate to create a beautiful view. A single striking olive tree in a large terracotta pot, a beautifully painted garden arch, or even a simple birdbath placed at the end of a path can give the space structure.

We love helping you align your indoor windows with your outdoor focal points, so the view draws you outside every single day.

Living rooms are for everyone. 🧸🍸

If your living room feels less like a relaxing sanctuary and more like a primary school classroom by 6 PM, you aren't alone. Toys happen! But your evening relaxation shouldn't be compromised.

The key to a successful family living space is "Chameleon Storage." Think beautiful wicker baskets with lids, upholstered storage ottomans that double as footrests, or sleek sideboards where plastic toys vanish the moment the kids go to bed.

Your home can be family-friendly by day and a peaceful adult retreat by night. Let's design a space that does both.

Designing with your nose.🕯️🍊

When we think of interior design, we think about what we see and touch. But how a room smells is just as important to how it functions.

Scent is the fastest way to signal to your brain what a room is for:

🔸The Hallway: Warm wood or citrus to welcome you home.

🔸The Home Office: Peppermint or rosemary to keep your focus sharp.

🔸The Bedroom: Soft lavender or vanilla to signal sleep.

Next time you tidy a space, try adding a specific scent to anchor the feeling of that room. It’s the final invisible layer of a well-designed home.

No mudroom? No problem. 🥾🌧️

We all see those gorgeous, sprawling country mudrooms on Pinterest with custom lockers for every family member. But if your home opens straight into a compact hallway, that dream feels far away.

You don't need a dedicated room to handle wet boots and raincoats—you just need a smart "Wet Zone."

A slimline waterproof tray for muddy wellies, a row of sturdy hooks set at different heights (so little ones can hang their own coats!), and a small, stylish wall basket for wet umbrellas can transform a stressful entryway into a highly functional hub. It’s about adapting the design to your reality.

Is your window dressing blocking your joy? 🪟☀️

Natural light is the absolute best accessory a room can have. It changes our mood, boosts our energy, and makes spaces feel open. But so often, heavy curtains or poorly placed blinds block the top or sides of the glass, even when they’re fully open.

When we look at a room layout, we pay massive attention to the windows. Simply extending a curtain pole a few inches wider than the window frame allows the fabric to sit outside the glass when drawn back.

The result? Maximum sunlight, a framed view of your garden, and windows that instantly look twice as big.

The "Kids' Artwork" Dilemma - The Endless Stream of Masterpieces. 🎨🧒

If you have children or grandchildren, you know the daily influx of drawings, paintings, and paper-mache creations is beautiful... and overwhelming! Your fridge can only hold so much before it looks like a paper avalanche.

How do you cherish their creativity without letting it take over your kitchen?

Our favourite approach is the "Gallery Rotate." Frame three or four matching, easily openable frames or clip boards on a wall. Let the children choose their absolute favourite piece to display each week, and keep a simple, sleek archival box tucked away for the "hall of fame" items at the end of the term.

Why small furniture can make a small room feel smaller 📏🧐

It sounds logical, doesn't it? If you have a compact room, you should buy compact furniture.

But in the design world, lots of small pieces of furniture actually create "visual clutter," making a room feel bitty and cramped. Often, a small living room looks and feels significantly larger with one generous, beautifully scaled corner sofa instead of two tiny armchairs and a nest of tables.

If your rooms feel cramped, it might not be the size of the house—it’s the scale of the pieces inside it. We love using fresh eyes to look at the proportions of your space and unlock that hidden breathing room.

Out of sight, but not out of mind? 🛋️🫣

Be honest—when you do a quick tidy-up before guests arrive, how much "stuff" gets slid under the sofa or shoved into the nearest cupboard?

It’s a natural survival instinct when life gets busy! But hiding the clutter doesn't shift the weight of it. Your brain still remembers it’s there, acting like an open tab on a computer that slows everything down.

At Inside Out Designs, we don't believe in "hiding" systems. We work with you to create storage solutions that actually make sense for your daily routine, so tidying up takes seconds and stays done. Let’s clear the decks properly so you can relax without the lingering "to-do" list under the cushions.
