Training dog Aster certainly fits a lot into her day! She began at Roath Park, working on her duck distraction, before practising her food manners, locating objectives and "under". Thank you to trainer Rachael O'Dwyer for the photo, which shows yellow labrador cross retriever Aster sitting in front of the lighthouse at Roath Park Lake.
Would-be guide dogs like Aster live with a foster family for the duration of their training, usually four to five months. They go to work when you do, leaving you free to get on with your busy day. Evenings and weekends are a time to relax and have fun! If you'd love the company of a clever canine like Aster without the usual costs of pet ownership, please visit this link: https://www.guidedogs.org.uk/how-you-can-help/volunteering/volunteer-with-our-dogs/fosterer/?utm_source=fb&utm_medium=organicsocial&utm_campaign=RegionalComms_Q2_2026
