These ring samples were 3D printed on our Formlabs Form 3L using Grey Pro resin for Rebecca Oldfield Jewellery, a CSAD graduate continuing to push her craft forward.

These pieces help clients visualise designs before committing, turning her ideas straight from imagination into something tangible.

A great example of how digital fabrication supports traditional craft, giving makers new ways to develop, test and communicate their work.

Looking back at a lovely moment from last year! ❤️🪵

As part of our SPF-funded workshops, we ran a Welsh love spoon session where participants got hands-on with laser-cut wooden spoons — then added their own beautiful, creative finishes using colour and design.

A perfect mix of heritage, making, and imagination.

As part of our continued SPF-funded outreach, we launched five two-day Velocity Track Challenge workshops in partnership with Bridgend Council, targeting 16-year-olds to encourage them to stay in school and explore careers in engineering and digital fabrication. These sessions introduced students to real-world design and problem-solving, guiding them through the process of building and racing their own laser-cut and 3D-printed cars under tight deadlines just like in an industry setting.

Made in FabLab using a CNC machine, this birch ply piece brings topography to life with contour lines and highlighted roads. Framed in black walnut, it marks a special home location. A perfect blend of craft and tech! 🌳⚙️

2024 Kicks Off with a Bang at Cardiff Fablab!

It's been a dynamic start to the new year here at Cardiff Fablab, with the excitement of learning and innovation in full swing. We're thrilled to announce that we've already hosted three schools for our DTSLN workshops (Digital Technology Skills Learning Network), setting the tone for a year filled with creativity and exploration.

Today, our students are back, and the lab is bustling with activity once more. In fact, we're so busy that we've had to enlist the help of our very own 'robot army.' You can catch a glimpse of these hardworking Ultimaker robots being printed as our header image!
