🌟 Open Your Home. Change a Life. Foster in Cardiff.
Every year, male and female young people arrive in Cardiff alone, seeking safety, stability and a chance to rebuild their lives. These unaccompanied asylum seeking children come from a wide range of countries, cultures and backgrounds — each with their own story, their own strengths, and their own hopes for the future.
Many arrive with limited English, often speaking languages such as Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Kurdish, Tigrinya and others. To reflect this, here’s how some of them might express their need for support:
• Arabic: "نحن بحاجة إلى أسرة آمنة وداعمة" (We need a safe and supportive family)
• Dari: "ما به یک خانه مهربان ضرورت داریم" (We need a kind home)
• Tigrinya: "ናይ ሓፍቲ ኤድን የድልየና" (We need a caring hand)
You don’t need to speak another language — just patience, compassion, and the willingness to offer guidance as they learn.
❤️ Why Foster?
• Provide safety and belonging to a young person who has no family here
• Learn about new cultures and share your own
• Receive full training, financial support, and 24/7 guidance
• Make a lifelong difference to a young person who simply needs someone to believe in them
🏡 Could You Foster?
If you have a spare room, an open mind, and the desire to help a young person feel safe and valued, you could be exactly who they’re waiting for.
Cardiff needs foster carers from all backgrounds, cultures and communities. Couples, single carers, LGBTQ+ carers, homeowners or renters — everyone is welcome.

We’re so proud to celebrate Adey, who was recently invited to attend a King’s Trust Garden Party – an incredible achievement! 🌟
Adey attended the special event alongside her supported lodgings provider, Rebecca, who shared:
"Dave and I decided to start doing supported lodgings because we'd both volunteered as Independent Visitors (IVs) and really enjoyed it. We were also interested in fostering in the future and thought this would be a good step in that direction, but we weren't ready for fostering at the time.
We both work in social care research and know about the struggles young people face in that grey area from 16–17 and when leaving care and wanted to contribute to alleviating some of those challenges.
We're so proud of Adey and all the incredible progress she's made – awards and meeting the King and being invited to garden parties are lovely, but it's building a relationship with her that's been the most rewarding experience. We've been so lucky to be part of her journey."

We’re excited to be supporting Pride Cymru on June 13th & 14th! 🎉

🌈✨ A piece of art made with love ✨🌈
At our Summer funday last year, children, carers, staff, and birth children all came together to leave their mark – quite literally! 🖐💛
These colourful handprints represent the Foster Wales family, each one unique but coming together to create something beautiful. 💫
It was wonderful to see so much creativity, joy, and teamwork in action – a true reflection of what fostering is all about. 💕
Foster Care Fortnight Round-Up 💜
What a wonderful Foster Care Fortnight it has been – a lovely time to come together, celebrate, and catch up with so many of you.
We’ve enjoyed a fantastic range of activities, including a fun-filled day out at Amelia Trust Farm with our families, some energetic salsa dancing, a refreshing walk across the barrage, and a delicious afternoon tea at our celebration event. It’s been truly special to spend time together and recognise the incredible fostering community we have.
We’ve also been out and about in the local area, raising awareness of fostering and sharing the difference it can make in children’s lives. A huge thank you to our amazing foster carers who have supported us with this.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of the fortnight – we’re so proud of this community 💜

Behind every foster carer is a team that matters.
Having a social worker who truly listens, advocates, and offers clear, practical support can make all the difference.
Fostering may be led by carers, but the right guidance helps them feel confident, heard and supported every step of the way. 💜

So much of fostering progress happens quietly.
A child seeking comfort, bringing you a toy, settling more easily at bedtime — small moments that show trust is starting to grow.
Those gentle shifts are powerful signs that a child is beginning to feel safe. 💛
