Hi everyone — as a local computer services provider, I want to give you a heads-up about an increase in scams targeting people in our community.

🚫 Common scams to watch out for:
• Phone calls claiming to be from “Microsoft” or “your internet provider”
• Pop-ups saying your computer is infected and urging you to call a number
• Emails or texts asking you to “verify” your bank or personal details
• Requests for remote access to your computer from unknown callers

💡 Remember:
✔️ Legitimate companies will NEVER cold call you to fix your computer
✔️ Never give out personal or banking details to unexpected contacts
✔️ Don’t allow remote access unless you fully trust the source
✔️ If it feels suspicious — it probably is

🛠️ If you’re ever unsure, feel free to reach out to a trusted local professional before taking action. It’s always better to double-check than risk losing money or data.

💻 Another Day, Another Failing Hard Drive…

Today we had yet another laptop come into us with a failing hard drive. Unfortunately, it’s something we see all the time. When a drive starts to fail, files can quickly become corrupted or completely inaccessible — sometimes without any warning.

The good news in this case? The customer had backed up their important data like photos and documents, so nothing was lost. 👍

Sadly, that’s not always the case. Many people don’t realise how important backups are until it’s too late and years of memories, work, and personal files are gone.

📌 Our advice: Back up your data regularly.
