Ultimately, my commitment to Pasolini and the book I wrote about him consumed the entire month of November. When I planned the structure of Voices of a Multiple Italy | Voci di una Molteplice Italia, I intended for the contents to be distinct from my work on Pasolini. However, the two projects ended up being developed side-by-side: I conceived and wrote the book while uploading the first versions of the digital anthology. Consequently, the two works influenced each other, creating a common discourse beyond my intentions. Whether I analyse texts by Pasolini or writers associated with the Italian diaspora, my work challenges the traditional definition of canon, instead proposing an inclusive narrative that revises the conventional approach to Italian literature and culture. Partly for this reason, and to avoid to repeat myself on Pasolini, this week on my blog I attempted to articulate the emotions experienced when encountering one's own book in a bookshop: a few notes on my transition from writing academic essays to writing for a broader audience. Some may consider this discourse narcissistic, but I believe it reveals more about Pasolini than was discussed at a recent conference exploring his conservative side, organised by individuals who have inherited only his narcissism.
