Potential To Be

Most co-founder relationships don’t break down overnight.
They usually erode slowly through conversations that keep getting pushed aside while everyone stays focused on moving the business forward.
Over time, small misalignments around priorities, workload, and decision-making can quietly turn into frustration and tension underneath the surface.
Strong partnerships are usually built through clearer communication, honest conversations, and regular space to step back before pressure builds.

Co-founders: why do simple decisions feel so difficult?
Usually, it’s not the decision.
It’s:
• Unclear roles
• No defined decision-making process
• Different priorities pulling in different directions
That’s what slows growth.

A lot of the conversations I have don’t start with a clear problem.
They start with a feeling.
A sense that something has shifted. That what used to work doesn’t feel quite right anymore.
For people who are capable and used to moving forward, that can be easy to dismiss.
So they stay busy. They keep going.
But over time, that feeling tends to get harder to ignore.
In my experience, it’s rarely something to push aside. It’s usually the beginning of a more important question.
Have you ever had that sense that something needed to change, even if you couldn’t explain why?
Building a business together is one thing… protecting your relationship while you do it is another.
Running a business with your spouse or partner is a special kind of partnership, but it comes with inevitable challenges. In my work with couples in business, the most important step is intentionality - getting clear on your professional roles and just as serious about your personal time together. It’s the balance that lets you build something lasting, together.
If you’d like to explore how to strengthen both your business and your partnership, I’m here to help. Just reach out.
