IC-Visual Lab is a space for the discussion, production and promotion of contemporary photography. Through regular events, workshops and community based activities ICVL supports the development of the medium we love. Our aim is to help share and explore the potential of photography with new and diverse audiences. We are based in Bristol, South West of England and are open for commissions, collaborations and conversations.

🔈 Upcoming Events Programme (27 - 29th June) 🔈

To accompany our next exhibition (Mangrove Theatre by Võ An Khánh w. .collection) we are organising 3 days of events across London. Led by artist Jacqueline Hoàng Nguyễn () and editor Adeena Mey (), ‘Uncatalogued’ will unpack material documents of Vietnam’s history, including propaganda posters, architectural drawings, musical scores, wartime illustrations and photographs. Whether state-produced or grassroots in origin, these materials echo across borders, revealing the transnational circulation of images and ideas.

Thanks to everyone who made it down to the opening of ’s Whiplash Memorial last friday. We’ll be back open this week, Thu-Sat, 12-5pm.

’s Whiplash Memorial is a poetic reflection on the shifting histories of North Kensington, exploring the intersection of memory, architecture and belonging. Opening Night is Friday 4th April - 6.30 - 8.30pm. All are welcome.

Following this, join us on Saturday 5th April at 4pm for an artist conversation, where Max will be unpacking the themes behind the work. We’re also excited to announce that on Saturday May 3rd there will be a one-day artist workshop led by Max, exploring forms of storytelling in relation to ideas of memory and place.

Whiplash Memorial by will open Thu 4th April - join us on the opening night (6.30-8.30pm) to celebrate the work. Following this, the show will be open Thu-Sat (12-5pm) until 11th May.

The exhibition is a poetic reflection on the shifting histories of North Kensington, exploring the intersection of memory, architecture and belonging. At the core of the project lies the Westway flyover - a towering, brutalist structure that has long fascinated Ferguson. This raised section of the A40 cuts through the heart of North Kensington, passing his childhood home on one side and the shadow of Grenfell Tower on the other. The project is a cryptic love letter to a flyover and the community beneath it, weaving together personal and collective histories.
