Spring Corner Vets

Meet Axel 🐾
Axel recently gave his family quite a scare after eating a large number of items that definitely weren’t meant to be on the menu! After becoming unwell, he was bought to Spring Corner where x-rays confirmed that he needed surgery to remove the foreign objects from his stomach, including a bin bag, grass, some jeans, 4 socks , some mystery material and some earrings! Axel’s surgery went well and he is recovering comfortably at home with his family ❤️

Yorkie was rushed to us after swallowing a fishing line, the bait on the hook proving too tempting. The hook had lodged in one of the more inaccessible areas of the body, just before the entrance to the stomach.
With a combination of open surgery and a camera down into the oesophagus we were able to safely retrieve the hook before it could do any lasting damage. Yorkie recovered well and was quickly enjoying beach walks again. Well done Yorkie!
Please be vigilant on the beaches for things like discarded hooks and washed up lines. If your dog swallows a hook do not pull the line. It is best to leave the line hanging out of the mouth and seek immediate veterinary attention. If you need to cut the line, don’t cut it short, leave plenty of line visible from the mouth.
