With temperatures set to be very high tomorrow and Thursday, Basingstoke Town Football Club are looking at whether there is enough interest to open their air-conditioned Clubhouse as a cool, safe space for local people.

This could be helpful for older residents, care home groups, families with young children, people working from home, or anyone who needs a break from the heat.

It is not confirmed yet. They are just gauging demand.

If you, a neighbour, family member or local group would benefit, please let the Club know so they can see whether there is enough interest to open.

With temperatures set to soar tomorrow and Thursday, we're wondering whether we can do a little bit of good.

We're exploring whether there would be enough interest for us to open the air-conditioned Clubhouse as a safe, comfortable space for people who may need a break from the heat.

Whether that's older residents, care home groups, families with young children, those working from home, or anyone who would simply benefit from a few hours somewhere cool.
This post is purely to gauge interest at this stage. We are not announcing that the Clubhouse will be open.

On Friday I brought together local nature groups and a whole host of organisations working to protect our environment, including Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, the Environment Agency, South East Rivers Trust, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, the Woodland Trust, CPRE, Greener Basingstoke, Natural Basingstoke, Forestry England and many more, along with water companies like Southern Water.

I didn't want this to be just another conversation about the problems facing nature. The aim was to get the people with the power, knowledge and responsibility into the same room and start working out what happens next.

I want to see cleaner rivers, stronger protection for our most vulnerable habitats, proper investment in water infrastructure, and a clear plan for restoring nature right across Basingstoke.

Our rivers, chalk streams and green spaces are a big part of what makes this place special, and I'll keep fighting to protect them for the future.
