You remembered the nappies.
The snacks.
The appointments.
The school letter.
The birthday present.
The prescription.
The washing.
The dinner.
You remembered to ask everyone else how they were.
But when was the last time someone asked how *you* were...
..and waited for the answer?
Motherhood can quietly become a life of carrying everyone else's needs while putting your own at the bottom of the list.
If you've forgotten what it feels like to be looked after too, we want you to know this:
You matter.
Your wellbeing matters.
And asking for support isn't selfish.
It's one of the kindest things you can do for yourself and your family.

Sometimes the biggest improvements in maternity care aren't the most complicated. They're the ones that keep families together.
For many families, being readmitted to hospital with a newborn can feel overwhelming.
It interrupts bonding, affects confidence, disrupts family life and can add another layer of stress at a time when everyone is still finding their feet.
That's why it's so encouraging to see initiatives like Royal Derby Hospital's home phototherapy service for babies with jaundice.
Where it's clinically safe to do so, parents are being supported to provide treatment at home - with specialist guidance always available.
The result?
✨ Babies receive the care they need.
✨ Parents feel informed and confident.
✨ Families stay together.
This is what family-centred care looks like.
When we trust parents, equip them with the right information and provide ongoing professional support, everyone benefits.
It's a reminder that improving maternity care isn't always about doing more.
Sometimes it's about finding better ways to deliver the care families already need.
If you could change one thing about postnatal care, what would it be?
