Merry Christmas to everyone!
These are the puppets made by the children and young people of the Ukrainian Club “Prosvita” in Aberystwyth, Wales, under my guidance. We performed a Ukrainian koliada for the local audience this year using these very puppets.

🇬🇧 I haven’t been very active on my professional pages, and over the past few months I’ve hardly shared any of the new work I’ve created. And, as always, the end of the year has arrived unexpectedly. So I’ll try to catch up.
I’d like to start with illustrations I created for a book project about legends of communities who are now living in Wales. So far, two illustrations have been completed for two different legends, and I would be very happy to continue working on this project if a publisher is found - and if they agree for me to illustrate it.
The illustration shown here is for a Ukrainian legend about Cossack Mamai,
“How I Fought the Dragon and Created the Oril River”.
For me, this was a very personal story - about protection and about my roots. About how old myths can still feel contemporary. And, of course, about identity. For Ukrainians today, any creative expression is first and foremost a conversation about identity.
I’ll be sharing other works created this year very soon.
🇺🇦 У мене не дуже виходить активно вести свої професійні сторінки, і останніми місяцями я майже не показувала свою нові роботи. А тут, як завжди, неочікувано, підкрався кінець року. Тож спробую надолужити. І почну з ілюстрацій, що я робила до книжкового проєкту про легенди народів, які нині живуть у Вельсі. Наразі створено дві ілюстрації до двох легенд, і я із задоволенням продовжу роботу в цьому проєкті, якщо для нього знайдеться видавець, і якщо він погодиться, щоб я ілюструвала.
Ця ілюстрація на фото - до української легенди про козака Мамая "Як я з лихим змієм боровся та річку Оріль створив".
Для мене це була дуже особиста історія - про захист, своє коріння. Про те, якими сучасними можуть бути старі міфи. І звісно про ідентичність. Будь що зараз, будь-який творчий проєкт - це розмова в першу чергу про ідентичність.
Найближчим часом покажу й інші роботи, створені цього року.
