Pendant depicting an eagle with outstretched wings. The body is articulated by a central openwork section decorated with spiral motifs. The aquiline beak is firmly defined, while the convex eyes form globular volumes that intensify the gaze. The head is surmounted by a crown of stylized circular motifs. The composition favors a frontal reading, emphasizing the ascending dynamism of the animal figure.

Anthropomorphic figure depicting a standing character with powerfully modeled features. The face shows a tense and outward expression: half-closed eyes, a wide open mouth forming a pronounced grimace, and cheeks emphasized by two concave lines. The ears are sculpted in relief and the forehead is adorned with a band surmounted by a central circular element. The forearms are strong, with the hands resting on the belly in a nurturing gesture. The deliberate disproportion between the upper body and the legs reinforces the frontal presence and visual impact of the figure.
Green jadeite, carved and polished, with luminous aquatic reflections.
Costa Rica, 500 BC – AD 100.
6.9 × 3.3 cm
Provenance:
Former Norbert Van Durme collection, Antwerp.
