Les activités religieuses du monastère ont repris en 1992 et la restauration du site s'est achevée en 1997. Deux temples et deux stupas du XVIIe siècle subsistent, ainsi que des temples supplémentaires construits au XVIIIe siècle. Des cérémonies ont été organisées pour la re-consécration du monastère et une nouvelle statue de Gombo Makhagal y a été sculptée et installée. Le monastère a été inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO en 1996. Plusieurs moines y résident et y pratiquent désormais leur art à plein temps.

Religious activities at the monastery restarted in 1992, and restoration of the monastery's grounds was completed in 1997. Two original temples and two stupas from the 17th century still stand, along with additional temples built in the 18th century. Ceremonies were staged to re-consecrate the monastery and a new statue of Gombo Makhagal was carved and placed there. The monastery was inscribed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, in 1996. Several monks now reside and practice at the monastery full-time.
