The efficiency of Hard Rock, the power of Heavy Metal, the spirit of Thrash. This is how we could sum up
Furies’s approach and whose first album, to be released at the fall of 2020, will surely aim at the heart and
guts of the Metal audience as a whole. From the hymnic « You & I » and
« Voodoo Chains
» to more complex « Fortune’s Gate » or raging « Unleash The Furies », Furies distils
a real Heavy Metal method in 10 lessons. No need to reinvent the wheel to make it roll far, fast and right : if
the Parisian four-piece cannot deny old school heavy metal masters’s influence (Judas Priest, Iron Maiden),
they add a touch of undeniable freshness and a resolutely contemporary production, coming from
prestigious Labomatic (Paris) and Domination (Italy) studios. Both iconic places that the band didn’t chose
randomly :
« We had the chance in 2016 to be able to record under the stewardship of producer Bénédicte Schmitt and
her sidekick Dominique Blanc-Francard, and wanted to reiterate this unforgettable experience for the
recording of our album. Igor Moreno at the Labomatic desk, the name of Michael Romeo popped up while
we were talking about the production we wanted for « Fortune’s Gate », as our two guitarists are ardent
fans of the guy. Simone Mularoni, « War of The Worlds Pt.1 » producer, knew how to shape our sound and
we are more than proud of the result ! »
Born in 2013 under the initiative of Zaza Bathory (drums) and originally an all-female band, Furies made a
great leap forward in 2015 with the arrival of Lynda Basstarde (vocals and bass), then in 2016 with the
enrolment of « symmetrical » lead guitarists (one left and one right-handed) Billy Lazer and Sam Flash. The band has finally come to its mixed and definitive line-up. The self-released demo tape « Unleash The Furies » (2017) earns Furies a nice media coverage, even
beyond rock and metal publications, as the combo is invited to play live on Canal + TV (a famous French
private TV channel). Later during the year, it is the national radio station France Inter (equivalent of BBC
and NPR) that invites the band at the occasion of their surprising heavy metal cover of the pop standard
« Mourir Sur Scène » of the French artist Dalida, recorded at Labomatic for a compilation. Furies is also a well-oiled scenic machine that crossed swords on stage with bands such as Cauldron,
Raven, Diamond Head, Evil Invaders, Insanity Alert, Ultra Vomit, Blasphème, No Return, ADX... and
played at numerous festivals in France and Germany (Hellfest, Bars en Trans, Rising Fest, Taunus Metal
Festival…). The band will reschedule in 2021 gigs in Sweden (Muskelrock), Danmark, Germany and
France, initially expected this year but cancelled due to the pandemic.
