Building Capacity for a Climate Ready Financial System
On 30 January 2026, the Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF), in partnership with NDC Partnership, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the Ministry of Information, Environment and Climate Change, officially launched the first in a series of introductory trainings on sustainable finance and climate change.
The training follows the launch of the Sustainable Finance Roadmap (SFR) launched in November 2025, and is designed to strengthen the capacity of key stakeholders involved in implementing sustainable finance initiatives within their institutions.
Facilitated primarily by international climate specialist Mr Donovan Burton, the sessions focused on climate change and risk, while including capacity‑building needs and support for the effective implementation of action plans under the SFR.
This event, attended by 41 participants, represents an important step towards supporting a more resilient, inclusive, and climate‑ready economy for Fiji.

Fiji officially launches its Sustainable Finance Roadmap!
The Reserve Bank of Fiji, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the United Nations Environment Program, with support from the NDC Partnership, officially launched Fiji's Sustainable Finance Roadmap🌱💰 on 3 November 2025. This marks a bold step towards aligning Fiji's financial system with climate resilience and inclusive development initiatives🌏. The Roadmap has 3 pillars which focus on transparency, sustainable investment, and financial inclusion, and will act as a guide for financial institutions in managing ESG risks, investing in sustainable finance projects, and expanding access to climate finance for all. The launch event marks a pivotal step in Fiii's journey toward a climate resilient future🌱.
