Four Titles, Nine Finals: Suva FC’s Enduring Fiji FACT Story

Global Care Suva FC sits fourth on the Fiji Football Association Cup Tournament (Fiji FACT) roll of honour, a testament to the capital city side’s rich history and enduring presence in one of Fiji football’s most prestigious tournaments.

Since the inception of the Fiji FACT in 1991, Suva has featured in nine finals, winning four titles and finishing runners-up on five occasions. The record highlights the club’s remarkable consistency in knockout football and its ability to remain competitive across different generations.

Suva first captured the Fiji FACT title in 1995 with a commanding 4-0 victory over Labasa, a result that remains one of the biggest winning margins in a Fiji FACT final.

The triumph announced Suva as a major force in Fijian football and laid the foundation for future success.

After a 17-year wait, the Whites returned to the top in 2012 when they edged traditional rivals Ba 1-0 in a tense final. The victory was celebrated throughout the capital as Suva reclaimed one of the country’s most coveted trophies.

The district continued its success in recent years, defeating Nadi 1-0 in the 2020 final in Labasa before securing another title in 2022 with a 2-0 win over Labasa at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

Those victories reinforced Suva’s standing as one of Fiji football’s most professionally run and consistent districts.

While the club has enjoyed significant success, it has also endured heartbreak on the biggest stage. Suva finished runners-up in 1994, 2004, 2014, 2016 and 2019, losing finals against Tavua, Ba and Nadi.

Three of those defeats came against Nadi, creating one of the most notable rivalries in Fiji FACT history. Despite the setbacks, Suva’s ability to rebuild and return to contention has remained one of the hallmarks of the district.

As preparations continue for the 2026 BiC Fiji FACT in Labasa, the Whites will once again aim to add another chapter to their proud history and strengthen their legacy as one of Fiji’s football giants.

Labasa Drawn With Rewa In Fiji FACT

Defending champions Labasa FC have been handed a challenging path in their bid to retain the BiC Fiji FACT title after being drawn alongside arch-rivals Rewa FC in Pool A of the 2026 tournament.

The draw was conducted today (Saturday, May 30) at the Fiji Football Association headquarters in Vatuwaqa, with the eight qualified teams learning their group-stage opponents for the first major tournament of the year.

Hosts Labasa will face 2025 runners-up Rewa, Suva and Navua in what is expected to be the tournament's most competitive pool.

Pool B will feature Ba, Lautoka, Nasinu and Nadroga.

The draw sets up an early blockbuster encounter between Labasa and Rewa, a repeat of last year's final, while Suva and Navua will also be aiming to secure one of the two semi-final berths from the group.

Ba will be fancied to lead Pool B but can expect strong competition from western rivals Lautoka, with Nasinu and Nadroga keen to make their mark on the national stage.

The BiC Fiji FACT 2026 will be held at Subrail Park in Labasa, with pool matches scheduled from June 19 to 21. The semi-finals and final will be played the following weekend.
