Today, the Pacific Disability Forum staff came together in a spirit of unity and reflection, holding a team bonding session to honor the legacy of the late Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna.

As Fiji and the Pacific prepare to remember him tomorrow, we pause to acknowledge his enduring contributions to leadership, service, and nation‑building. His vision continues to inspire us as we strengthen solidarity and inclusion across our region.

This moment of remembrance reminds us that true leadership is rooted in values, respect, and collective purpose — principles we carry forward in our work for persons with disabilities and their communities.

📍 Human mobility in disasters is a highly complex process

✍️ A new study from researchers at Peking University reviewed nearly 1,000 studies on the movement of populations under disasters.

The review concludes that mobility during crises functions in two ways: a response to external shocks 💥, and a further transmitter of systemic, cascading impacts 🌀.

⛑️ These findings emphasize the need for human mobility - and its far reaching impacts - to be integrated into disaster management frameworks. To address this, the researchers propose the FAIR-HEART framework to guide equitable and resilient mobility governance.
