In many workplaces, you can often hear the terms “hard skills” and “soft skills”.

Hard skills are more or less straightforward. These are technical and practical abilities that can be easily checked through a test or an exam. They are confirmed by diplomas and certificates. For instance, the knowledge of programming languages or targeting tools. Any employer can evaluate your hard skills based on your CV.

Soft skills are difficult to measure in an interview because they gradually unfold during the work process. They include communication skills, creativity, the ability to persuade others, and working in a team. Even though there is no direct relation to any specialty, they often define how well a person fits a certain position.

A Harvard University study https://www.nationalsoftskills.org/the-soft-skills-disconnect/ proves that 85% of job success comes from soft skills and only 15% from hard skills.

We asked our team leads what soft skills they consider the most important. Read their answers in the images.

Of course, soft skills do not guarantee success in any area on their own. You need to train all your muscles at once. Try to recall situations where you acted like a charismatic negotiator or an expert in your area.

Which type of skills do you think you have developed the most?

We talked to Panzerdog PR Manager Maria Kruglova and asked her about the social activities the company does in Kaliningrad, Russian Federation. It’s where our main office is located.

— Masha, how exactly do we participate in the local social life?

— We take part in education activities. For example, we held a Unity game development course for students. As a result, a couple of guys got a job in Panzerdog, some others now work in friendly studios or freelance.

Also, we take on the role of experts on projects review at the Center for the Development of Talented Children, as well as arrange career guidance tours for students to our office etc.

— Seems like we are heavily involved in raising a new generation of developers in Russia.

— Yeah, we also support gamedev events in town such as Global Game Jam. We helped the hosts manage it before the pandemic shut everything down.

Who are we?

Panzerdog was founded in Kaliningrad (Russia) in 2016, and since 2017 its head office is located in Helsinki. Two years later, we became a part of MY.GAMES, a community of dozens of game developers worldwide.

Our multinational team includes over 40 game development enthusiasts. The most experienced of us have been working in the game industry for more than 10 years.

Currently Panzerdog is developing its first project – online mobile shooter Tacticool. It is a multiplayer top-down shooter with action-packed 5v5 matches lasting 3-4 minutes.
