Why we need LGBTQ+ safe media

There has never been a commercial q***r media outlet in Finland. Never. And every time a q***r story makes it to mainstream outlets, the comment sections explode with hate and mockery—unchecked, unmoderated, normalized. As if hate speech were just “debate.” Spoiler: it’s not.

Straight love stories get applause. Q***r love stories get torn apart. That’s why safe LGBTQ+ media isn’t just nice to have—it’s essential. We deserve spaces where our lives and stories are told with respect, not ridicule.

That’s what Q***rland Media is about: a safe, international platform in English and Spanish, telling the stories of LGBTQ+ people in Finland, across the Nordics, and beyond. A space to inform, connect, and celebrate who we are—without fear.
