In the first chapter of the Ways of Tea Program, we explored how a Gaiwan (simple lidded bowl) can hold centuries of craft, attention, and philosophy. From form and material to the way water meets leaves, each element can impact shape both tea brewing and tea tasting.

As we continue this journey, the next step — Master Class: Playing with Gaiwan — dives deeper into flow, rhythm, and expression. We’ll explore how angle, height, and infusing time transform the cup in your hands, and why we do certain gestures for Gaiwan brewing. It’s designed as a module for those wishing to deeper develop their gaiwan brewing skills.
