Today we move to the software development side in the introductory series of our staff. We are pleased to present our Backend Developer Mathias Brandtberg who has seen the whole product development curve of the Bitwards mobile app. Mathias has been working with Bitwards since the start-up was established, for more than five years.

Mathias's job description involves developing and maintaining the cloud service and the server and implementing the platforms technically. He is also responsible for planning new functionalities and technical documentation supporting Bitwards' overall software development work and troubleshooting performance issues. The software development work includes implementations of the mobile application and user interfaces.

Mathias is an IT engineer; he graduated six years ago from the Åland University of Applied Sciences' IT programme. He started working immediately for Bitwards. Since then, he has been involved in the development process of the technology for mobile access. Before that, he spent some time at Flexim developing Time Attendance solutions, Flexim Työaika (TA) (Flexim Time and Attendance).

Problem-solving is Mathias's superpower. What interests him in software development is the logic behind it. "I am not so much fascinated by the graphic part, more by the database and logic. The choice of becoming a Backend developer was never obvious, and once I graduated from school, I tried all sorts of things, such as webpage development. Still, the job's logical side came more naturally to me".

In his free time, Mathias plays Counter-Strike, a tactical shooter computer game. He also is a cycling and frisbee-golf enthusiast.
