This World Menstrual Hygiene Day, we are hosting an on-site celebration in Ethiopia for 200 girls and community members through Yewer Abeba: Breaking Myths, Building Confidence.
Together, we’ll create space for open conversations, menstrual education, peer-led learning, and confidence-building — because girls thrive when communities stand with them.
A period-friendly world is built together. 🩸🇪🇹
A powerful step forward.
We’re proud to partner with FidelPortal to expand academic access for girls in Ethiopia—bringing digital learning into our community-based model.
More access. More opportunity. More girls supported.

We are honored to close out Women’s History Month with our students speaking with Donald Johanson—the paleoanthropologist behind “Lucy”—as part of their Career Exploration series.
Students with a strong interest in science joined this session as part of a broader series curated around students’ goals to explore different career paths.
Love this quote Professor Johanson shared which resonated with all of us: “Discovery comes from preparation, persistence, and curiosity. There is no single problem in this world we can’t solve through education.”
In a full-circle connection across music, history, and mission, SSGA’s Global Ambassador, Julian Lennon, links the story of ‘Lucy’ back to Ethiopia. The fossil was named after “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” by The Beatles—a song inspired by a childhood drawing by Lennon. Through his foundation, The White Feather Foundation, which helped open SSGA’s training center a decade ago and continues to support students through the Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls, that story now extends into opportunity for the next generation.
