As can be seen in the picture, three spatial elements have been added to the base map.

The first of them are the health districts (polygonal type), which being a basic information that matches at an informational level with our base map, it was decided to apply a transparency in order to visualize the urban elements of the city, achieving a better visualization of the subsequent objects that were added.

Finally, two specific elements were introduced and given simple colors: hospitals, health centers and dentists.

This is how a simple and effective mapping of the city of Los Angeles has been created.

The Mercator projection is a cylindrical projection. The meridians are vertical lines, parallel to each other and equidistant, and extend to infinity as they approach the poles.

The lines of latitude are horizontal straight lines, perpendicular to the meridians and of the same length as the equator, but their spacing increases as they approach the poles.

The poles project to infinity and cannot be shown on the map. The grid is symmetrical at the equator and central meridian.

The Mercator projection is considered standard in web geospatial applications, and this is the standard we use at Bettermaps.
