A fascinating live surgery where Prof. Massimo De Sanctis and Prof. Sofía Aroca shared every detail, every decision, and every clinical pearl behind one of the most predictable techniques for the treatment of multiple gingival recessions, using a Multiple Coronally Advanced Flap combined with connective tissue grafting only in the areas where the soft tissue phenotype required additional reinforcement.
The procedure demonstrated a highly refined and biologically driven approach, with connective tissue grafts placed selectively in the canine and first premolar regions and stabilized at the base of the papillae to optimize vascularization and long-term tissue stability.
Prof. De Sanctis carefully guided participants through every surgical step, including the preparation of a partial-full-partial thickness flap, allowing for tension-free coronal advancement while preserving blood supply and ensuring optimal flap mobility. Once the connective tissue graft had been secured, the flap was advanced coronally to completely cover both the graft and the exposed root surfaces.
Beyond the technical aspects, the session was a true masterclass in surgical decision-making, soft tissue management, and the pursuit of long-term aesthetic and functional outcomes. Participants benefited from countless clinical pearls, practical tips, and insights gathered from decades of experience at the highest level of periodontology.
Prof. Massimo De Sanctis and Prof. Sofía Aroca for an outstanding demonstration that perfectly reflects the philosophy of our Advanced Specialization Program in Periodontology: evidence-based education, clinical excellence, and immediate clinical application.
