ART can SHIFT the way we VIEW the world.

The photos are a sample of some of the 12 million immigrants who passed through New York Harbor from the late 1900's to mid 20th century.

The project SAVE ELLIS ISLAND was supported by well known French artist JR w/his image installation. The original images of immigrants (some actual patients) were installed at the former Ellis Island Immigration hospital.

JR's hopes that visitors who see the photos will realize that the people in them are more than just history.

A big thanks to founder Tony Goldman's vision which transformed the warehouse district into a local gem.
