For three years, Barcelona was our home. We found a rhythm, built a community, and I spent my days creating and working in a local tattoo shop. We tried our best to bring the countryside to the city—turning our terrace into a green jungle of rescued plants and compost bins. 🌱

​But the truth is, you can’t fully replicate the freedom of nature in a city apartment. The noise, the pollution, and the longing for open spaces started to outweigh the city life. We loved our time there, but we knew it had an expiration date. Here’s a little look into why we decided to leave the city behind and hit the road. 🗺️🚲

☕️ Coffee, Ink, and the Streets of Ravenna

​There’s something incredibly magical about slowing down to paint a city instead of just snapping a quick photo and moving on. We found the perfect little outdoor spot, ordered some espresso, and spent the afternoon capturing a slice of Ravenna’s timeless architecture.

​If you've never tried plein air sketching, consider this your sign to grab a pocket palette and hit the pavement.

​🎨 The Creative Ritual

​The Setup: A rich espresso, a fresh page, and that essential masking tape to lock down those clean borders.

​The Wash: Layering down loose, soft watercolors to capture the soft Italian sky and the creeping greenery.

​The Ink: Dipping the pen and bringing the brickwork to life with fine lines and satisfying cross-hatching.

​The Finale: Honestly, is there anything more deeply therapeutic than a crisp, clean tape peel? (The answer is no.)

​Ravenna is world-famous for its stunning mosaics, but the quiet charm of its historic streets and warm brick buildings is an absolute dream for urban sketchers.

My favorite way to explore a new city? A sketchbook and a front-row seat to the local square. 🖋️ Taking a moment to capture the spirit of Trento before the next adventure begins.

I have done every type of artwork in the past years, a hundred ways to make money or pass my time. But plein-air architecture is the one that I'll always come back to.

If I want to relax, I'll go to church

Mostly meant as a joke.. until it's not.

I don't know. I'm not big on religion whatsoever but the places that came forth from it really calm me. I guess you can't beat a 2000 plus year architectural focus on creating a feeling of order in the world.

Something about this drive to create a perfect world is reflected in the floorplans, the stones etc.

We have only a few hours left in Trento before moving on.. to Verona.

Tomorrow we will be packing our bikes and rolling downhill into the Po valley.

I intended this to be the final reveal video but I think I might sneak in a few more hours of drawing tomorrow before Fem is ready.
