Ballet Class in One Take
I asked for this image:
a lone fisherman battling the Atlantic storm.
Little did I know we'd be treated to this epic piece of music at 8:30 in the morning.
We did a new series with some shorter videos taking you through our process. It can be hard to follow sometimes. Because after 15 years, Carlos is reading my mind. So the "prompts" given can seem a bit too minimalistic😂
This trick gets everybode really warm and ready to go
BEHIND THE CURTAIN: PIANIST & BALLET TEACHER TEAMWORK
Ever wonder how we create the right music for ballet class? It's all about communication! This video offers a glimpse into the collaborative process between pianist and ballet teacher.
Watch how we work together to find the perfect musical solutions for each exercise - discussing tempo, character, and phrasing. It's both challenging and incredibly rewarding when we discover that ideal match between movement and music.
The back-and-forth conversations you'll see are where the real work happens - testing ideas, making adjustments, and sometimes finding unexpected solutions that enhance the dancers' experience.
Ballet is universal, but today, we’re celebrating Latin America!
We’ve noticed more and more ballet teachers and dancers from South & Central America streaming our music—gracias!
Ballet has no borders, and neither does music. If you’re listening from Latin America, drop a 🇲🇽🇦🇷🇨🇴🇨🇱🇵🇪 in the comments and let us know where you’re dancing from!

This is not a normal fondu.
This one forces you to question your habits.
You need to ask yourself—
Can it be done in a different way?
The first time I heard it, it didn’t make sense at all.
I must admit…
I am a typical tango guy.
But now, there are days I cannot imagine the class without it.
I love music like this—versatile, dynamic, and full of possibilities.
I can use it for a slow battement tendu, a fast battement tendu, a really fast jeté, or even assemblé, rond de jambe en l’air, or fondu.
When the music is good, there are no limits.
In ballet class, the right music doesn’t just set the tempo—it sets you free.
When the music carries you, movement stops feeling like work. It becomes instinct, expression, and something beyond just steps.
A great class isn’t just about technique—it’s about feeling the music and letting it move you.
My son is a piano prodigy. Unlike me, who had to fight just to be considered for a ballet school, teachers now line up, trying to pull him away from his current school and teacher.
I used to be jealous of people with talent. I thought that if I had been truly gifted, my work ethic would have made me unstoppable. But now, I see the weight my eight-year-old son carries—the pressure of expectations, the burden of always having to perform at his full potential.
I had to work hard just to be seen. He has to work just as hard—but to prove he deserves the praise. If I had a bad day, nobody noticed. When he has a bad day, people start whispering, wondering if he has “lost it.”
I used to think all my problems would have been solved with more natural talent. I had never given a thought to the burden that comes with it.
It’s a bit unorthodox, but using a march for pirouettes is just fun.
Just imagine you’re Indiana Jones—bold, fearless, and ready for adventure.
I had a colleague who wasn’t naturally a gifted ballet dancer, but he was a performer, a showman, and the most consistent worker I’ve ever met.
From him, I learned something invaluable—habits will take you farther than momentary discipline.
