Published in the Journal of Management Studies, the study followed DJs over several years and found that learning the “old ways” was seen as a sign of being serious about the craft. Even though most clubs now use digital gear, many DJs still take time to learn how to beatmatch by ear or use physical vinyl, just to prove they care about where the culture came from. People in the scene often notice these choices and treat them as a sign of credibility.
