The MIBA method
Showing my kids that emotions happen and what to do after—that's when the real teaching happens.
You're not teaching your children that anger is bad when you lose it. You're teaching them that:
All emotions are human
We can calm ourselves down
We can reconnect after hard moments
Repair is always possible
That moment when you come back and say "I'm sorry I shouted, I was feeling overwhelmed"—that's where the growth is. For them AND for you.
💬 Have you ever felt like your "bad" parenting moment actually became a teaching moment?
Anger is dangerous. Sadness is weakness. Anxiety is irrational.
So we try to silence them. Push them down. Power through.
The truth is, what we resist, persists.
The more we try to get rid of a feeling, the stronger it gets.
Emotional strength isn't about staying calm all the time. It's about learning to be with what's hard—without being consumed by it.
Next time you feel overwhelmed or triggered, try asking: What is this emotion trying to tell me?
Can I let it be here, without needing it to go away?
What do I need right now, in this moment?
This isn't weakness. It's wisdom.
💬 Which emotion have you been resisting lately?
