Announcement #7 of 2020
Dear CDWS members,
Based on recent investigations of several incidents that indicated the recurrence of accidents and injuries resulting from the use of the full-face mask for snorkeling, the Chamber of Diving and Water Sports, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities recommend not to use a full-face mask for snorkeling due to its risk on the safety of the snorkelers.
Various observations have been recorded on the lack of safety of using this mask and the risk of inhaling the accumulated carbon dioxide inside of the mask produced while breathing. Breathing CO2 can lead to headaches, dizziness, and in some cases unconsciousness, which could lead to drowning.
Kindly educate your visitors and raise their awareness of the risk factors of using the full-face mask.

السادة أعضاء غرفة سياحة الغوص والأنشطة البحرية
تحية طيبة وبعد،
بناء على تحقيقات الحوادث والأحداث التي أشارات إلى تكرار الحوادث والإصابات الناتجة عن إستخدام قناع الوجه الكامل لتنفيذ نشاط السنوركل، توصي غرفة سياحة الغوص والأنشطة البحرية بالتعاون مع وزارة السياحة والآثار بعدم إستخدام قناع الوجه الكامل لتنفيذ نشاط السنوركل وذلك حفاظاً على سلامة الممارسين.
فقد تم تسجيل ملاحظات على سلامة إستخدام القناع وإحتمالية تسببه في تعرض ممارسين النشاط للخطر من خلال إستنشاقهم لثاني أكسيد الكربون المتراكم داخل القناع أثناء التنفس، والذي قد يتسبب إستنشاقه في الشعور بالدوار، الصداع وفي بعض الأحيان لفقدان الوعي والغرق.
برجاء نشر الوعي بين ممارسين السنوركل عن خطورة إستخدام قناع الوجه الكامل.
