BIYA Environmental Science Program

The corals of the Gulf of Aqaba are unique in their resilience to global environmental stressors. They offer hope for the survival of coral reefs around the world in the face of climate change. However, they are under immense pressure from local stressors, such as various types of pollution, rapid coastal development and over-fishing. Conservation and promotion of sustainable uses of these reefs are primary objective.
