In 2013, when he escaped to Cairo, the police arrested him arbitrarily and without charges. He spent a week in jail, where the filth, the abuse, both physical and verbal, brought him to the verge of a breakdown. When they let him out, the police said that if they found him “walking like a faggot” in downtown Cairo, they would arrest him again. In mid-October 2017, he was assaulted by four thugs at a barbershop, who objected to the earring he was wearing. They broke his nose and sent him to the hospital, where he required surgery.
