Dedicated to the Apostle James, The Elder, son of Zebedee, denoted as the Saint Patron of Spain.
it is another piece of extinct architecture, science and beauty,
Construction of the present cathedral began in 1075 under the reign of Alfonso VI of Castile (1040–1109). Construction was halted several times, the last stone was laid in 1122.
Influences : Romanesque, baroque, gothic.
Unsurprisingly, it took a 100 years to build, it is a lost knowledge and an unattainable craftsmanship in structure, masonry and sculpture.
