Most nation’s climate plans (NDCs – Nationally Determined Contributions) and policies are overlooking
something extremely big: the mitigation and adaptation potential of the built environment. That’s why we’re
currently developing an NDC Scorecard for Sustainable Buildings to support and encourage every country to
in their NDC (Nationally Determined Contribution) submissions, due next year.
The Scorecard tool will allow all policymakers, Green Building Councils and others to assess and compare
their countries’ NDCs, and reveal where further action is necessary to increase the ambition and effectiveness
of their NDCs and national policies so they are putting the sector on a trajectory for 1.5ºC.
We are co-developing the tool with the World Green Building Council and Green Building Councils (GBCs) –
Building Council Brasil, Colombiano de Construcción Sostenible (CCCS), Green
Building Council, Building Council Nigeria and Green Building Council – alongside local
stakeholders including governments, to bolster local action that delivers on global priorities.
